Looking Good !

I just got back from running the 10 mile route at Chester woods. If the weather is half as good next week as this mourning I'll be very happy. We met a few runners previewing the course, that's pretty cool . There are a lot of wild flowers blooming right now, and the trees are fully leafed out, making for a nice cool run under the canopy. The water in the reservoir is crystal clear for those brave enough to jump in after the race. Durring our run this morning we spotted a doe , a turkey , yellow finches, blue birds and many other songbirds.

Reminder

Five more days to take advantage of the early entry fee of 17.00. I can promise you that you won't find a better deal on a quality race.
Thanks to all who have pre-registered so far. We will register runners through race day but, on-line registration ends June 1st. After June 1st the fee goes up to 20.00
I ran my first race of the year at the Med City Marathon. It wasn't pretty I bonk-de-bonked at mile 18 and had to drag my butt across the finish line in 4:04. I still had a lot of fun, there will be other marathons to get my revenge. Congratulations to everybody that participated on Saturday

Preview Run

We had a small group run the 10 mile route yesterday. Renee Saxman had her camera along and took these beautiful pictures. We had planed to run a nice easy 10 min pace but I think some of the guys were feeling pretty good and set a blistering 8:00 min pace through the first couple miles. The campgrounds are now open and the park had a lot of hikers and the reservoir had a lot of fisherman and kayakers on it.
The Med City Marathon is less than a week away, so no long runs for me til race day. Its always nice to get to the tapering period but you really get the itch to run.

Happy Trails

Running for food

I found this on the Runners World forum. Whenever I hear someone say "I am not a runner" I think, yes you are . We are all runners our bodies are designed, more than any other animal, to run long distances. Watch as this Kalahari tribesman runs down a kudu to feed his family. Bio mechanically the human body is designed for distance running.

Dirty magazines for all

I've recieved a limited amount of copies of Trail Runner magizine for everybody that enters the race. If everyone takes one issue per household we should have enough.

I have been running or hiking the trails 3 to 4 times a week clearing sticks and stones as I go. Its looking very nice out there.

Friday is the Stay Out of the Sun Run. Tim Burris does a great job with that race and he always has a bunch of runners there.

Run for the Horses

I had the opportunity to help at the Run for the Horses race this weekend. We used a course that had a few different trails than the 10 mile route for CWTR but it did include the "big dam hill". there weren't a lot of runners but everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Registrations are pouring in so I'm thinking we are going to eclipse last years record numbers

One month to go

We are one month away from race day and things are shaping up nicely. Record numbers of runners are pre-registering with some familiar names and some new ones. I am doing all I can to promote this race and make it one of the premier trail races in the area.
I,ve been running the trails quite a bit this spring and the woods are greening up .
The Run for the Horses race is this weekend at Chester Woods and I plan on helping set up the course Friday.
I am running the Med City Marathon two weeks before CWTR , this gives me a nice distraction to take my mind off the trail race, if only for a little bit
